FROST YARN presents: Learning to "Read" a skein to work with a pattern

  • The Altered Stitch 12443 West Magnolia Blvd Valley Village, CA, 91607 (map)

Saturday, Dec. 9th from 2-3 PM, Nicole from Frost Yarn will do a FREE demonstration on how to "read" a skein.

Ever bought a beautiful skein of yarn, paired it with an equally beautiful pattern, and been disappointed with how it worked up? The phenomenon is often referred to as creating Rainbow Clown Barf in the industry.

Learning how to "read" a skein and understanding the differences between High Variegation, Mid Variegation, Low Variegation, different speckle variations, and a Semi-Solid Tonal is essential to matching the way the yarn is dyed to a pattern that will best display both. Nicole will be bringing her Swatch Compendium with knit and crochet swatches of all techniques along with samples to help you learn to visualize how a given yarn will work up.
