Crochet 101-In Shop Only

This is a perfect first project to master the fundamental stitches of crochet and build your crochet knowledge. In this two session class, you will learn how to read a basic crochet pattern, how to hold your hook and yarn, the chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet stitches. You will be making a scarf to practice these stitches, which developes muscle memory. Plus, you will be taught tips and tricks to keep your crochet stitches straight and looking great.

Hippity hop into spring with a whimsical stuffy to knit or crochet. This adorable pair are based on the beloved children’s story book; Frog and Toad Are Friends. This is a modular knitting project. Basic, confident knitting knowledge is required; cast-on, knit, purl. Short row shaping and increase, decrease techniques used will be demonstrated and be part of skill development in class. Want to learn Brioche knitting technique? Try the Harlow Worsted Hat, it’s a whimsical accessory with opportunity for creativity through the use of color. We can all use a bit of color to cheer us up, right? Gather up two of your favorite worsted weight yarns and together we can learn to do the fun Brioche stitch technique. You will only work with one color at a time. You will learn how to tubular cast on in two colors, Brioche stitch in the round. Must have basic knitting skills; know how to cast on, bind off, knit stitch & purl stitch. This is a great introduction to Brioche knitting and just so much fun with the creation of an awesome hat that is the perfect for left-over yarns and a pom-pom is optional. Come join in the fun, in person only!

There are certain things that you can learn that will help improve your knitting, no matter how long you have been crafting away. You can learn these things in this two part boot camp session. Learn how to rip back the same or the sane way, how to get your knitting back on your needles without twisting stitches, and how not to drop them . Also, learn to read your knitting, tell the difference between knits, purls, and mistakes. Learn to recognize and pick up dropped yarnovers. We will learn how to pick up dropped stitches and how to recreate a knit stitch and a purl stitch with both a crochet hook and your needle tips. Best of all, we will be practicing with 3 swatches of fabric with mistakes purposely put in them. Together, we will find those mistakes and fix them so you would never know there was a mistake to begin with. Shhh, it will be our secret. We will be working on garter fabric (all knits), stockinette (knits on front and purls on back), and ribbing (knit 2, purl 2). If you want to make your own swatches to practices with use worsted weight yarn in a light colour and cast on 20-25 stitches and make 3 squares in those three patterns but put some mistakes in there on purpose to fix later. DO NOT BIND OFF. This class is in person only. Please prepare the 3 swatches for practice before coming to class!
